The plot is a standard of French erotica • the sexual education of a young woman. A classy French mansion is the site for orgiastic initiation ceremonies for frustrated couples, involving the donning of black stockings. A young woman is brought to this house, and learns all about the goings on under the tutelage of her pretty blond maid/mentor. This Dante and Virgil relationship is a common narrative device, both for profound artistic reasons, and highly practical narrative reasons, since the mentor is explaining things simultaneously to the protagonist and the audience. (Ever notice how often in movies there's a character who is on their first day on the job, so the set-up can be explained to the audience?)

The maid and her charge view many erotic couplings through one-way mirrors, and have a lot of sex with each other during or after each voyeuristic adventure. The physical and emotional relationship between these two women steals the show – these are some of the best girl-girl scenes ever staged, and there are many of them – as the young woman's education is primarily a developing intimacy with her instructor. "Patricia's mother sends her 19 year-old daughter (Christine Black) to Vincent (Ghislain Van Hove), a man who in the past took part in the mother's education into womanhood. Patricia's education comes at the hands of her French maid (Elisabeth Bure), butlers and by watching Vincent's wild parties through a 1-way mirror."
