I got the following email via my YouTube account. xxxchurch.com bills itself as the #1 christian porn site -- but it's anything but porn. The site was founded by two youth pastors, who are trying to stem the tide of porn taking over the lives of kids today.
I don't have any problems with their goals -- kids + pornography = bad stuff for society. But I have problems with them. Leave the arms of pornography and turn to the open arms of christianity. That's just trading one type of porn for another, when looking for instant gratification.
I believe everything in moderation. Too much porn is like making Big Macs your meal of choice. It's just not healthy. But, sexuality is sexuality, and we're sexual beings. Parenting is also parenting, and I don't know of how many parents actually parenting their children. If you don't know what they're doing on the internet, you're not parenting. Just like if you don't know what they're watching on TV.
This blog isn't for kids -- just like there are many sites out there not for kids -- just like there are books in bookstores or in the library, not for kids -- just like bars aren't for kids. We don't need legislation or society to step in. We need parents to parent.
